"Hi my name is Karen and I love interacting with children. Child development has always been a major passion of mine. In my PHD dissertation in Sociology I studied the impact of childhood socialisation on religious beliefs, values and behaviour. However, soon after the completion of my thesis I realised that I wanted to have a direct impact on children's lives which led me to complete a postgraduate diploma in Montessori teaching. I taught in a Montessori school for one year before becoming a Mother. I have applied the principles of Montessori teachings to my own two daughters, and I strongly believe that sensory exploration is key to all other aspects of learning. I believe that learning can be fun especially for younger children - if you give a child an activity that he/she loves they will not realise that they are actually working towards developing key aspects in their development. I perceive my job description to be to come up with the best activity that will entertain and stimulate each child to optimise his/her learning. In 2016 I set up SENSEable Tots which gives sensory classes to babies and toddlers. With the classes are expanded and tailored to teach, stimulate and entertain a wider age range of children for events such as weddings, christenings, corporate events and birthday parties."
